The film depicts a game of 'Duck Duck Goose' played between friends. The camera is passed around the circle as the game is played, and is treated as an active participant in revealing intimate portraits of the performers, as the players film their own faces.

Often my work involves trying to mediate authentic experience, and the difficulties of this, in this case the experience of friendship and intimacy. Most recently, and especially during the COVID 19 pandemic, this work has become more important to me, expressing a need for warmth.

The film is shot in the evening, and the sky becomes darker through the duration of the performance. I chose this time of day because it drew me back to my childhood; playing outdoors with friends before having to return home before it got dark. This generates nostalgic energy.

The film presents a contrast between the absurdity and uncanny qualities of adults playing a children's game in the evening, and a calling back to the past, a reach for the warmth and buzz of being a kid again.
